Hua (Louis) Tian

Geotechnical Engineer

MEng, MIEAust, RPEQ, NER and PhD Candidate

Throughout his career, Hua (Louis) Tian has worked across multiple disciplines of geotechnical engineering including soil improvement, foundation design, piling, laboratory testing, site investigation, and project management. However, his key interest area is tailings.

Prior to joining the CM&G Team, he was a Registered Geotechnical and Structural Engineer in China, designing Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) for power generation industry throughout China, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Morocco. He consistently delivered excellent engineering solutions and received the National Design Gold Award of China.  

His academic research has focused on the strength-deformation characteristics especially the flow instability of tailings.

In his current role, Louis supports our Principal Engineer and works on tailings dam designs, conducts design reviews, provides tailings dam stability analysis and laboratory test scheduling and interpretation as well as other geotechnical work.
