David joined the Cartledge Team in August 2022 as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer. He adds years of global experience to the team, having started his professional career as a Seismologist working on seismic field crews engaged in oil exploration in the Middle and Far East.

Following several years of overseas experience, David moved to the UK to work as a Mining Geologist in the opencast coal mining industry, later developing his career as a Geotechnical Specialist. He has worked in both the United States and the United Kingdom, eventually progressing to senior technical and managerial roles in operational, engineering and consulting positions.

He then established his own business to provide independent professional geological and geotechnical advisory services to the UK surface mining and quarrying sectors. During the final demise of the UK coal mining sector, he took up a leadership role as a Senior Geologist then Geotechnical Manager for a large quarrying firm in the UK.

David is now keen to apply his expertise and experience to the Australian surface coal mining industry, with the goal of developing robust geotechnical engineering practices based on the finest approaches from both sides of the world.
