Paul Couto is an Associate Geotechnical/Rock Mechanics Engineer, managing the Perth office for Cartledge Mining and Geotechnics in Australia. Paul's experience extends over 14 years, in hard rock metals underground and surface mining environments. Paul has managed geotechnical projects and operations ranging from shallow to ultra-deep mining in seismically active environments underground. Paul has experience underground with bord and pillar mining, conventional narrow tabular (sequential grid, longwall, and scattered) mining, and long-hole stoping mining methods.

Paul's underground experience covers a variety of commodities from gold, copper, diamonds, manganese, chrome, and platinum group metals (PGMs). Operationally, Paul has executed numerous improvement projects on time and effectively whilst achieving operational targets. Paul has vast underground experience in terms of studies, design, and operational systems/functions. Paul's hard rock surface mining experience ranges from gold, copper, iron ore, manganese, PGMs, lithium, and rare earth across a range of pits both locally and internationally. Paul possesses good management skills with strong attention to detail. Paul is recognised for his commitment to client objectives and ‘buy-in’ to ensure the best project outcomes.
