Keith Mandisodza

Principal Engineer – Tailings and Geotechnics

FAusIMM(CP), CPEng., NER, RPEQ

Keith brings years of multi-disciplinary experience in mining and civil geotechnics and mine engineering throughout Australia, Southern Africa, South America, Canada and Madagascar to his role as Principal Engineer for Cartledge Mining and Geotechnics.

Keith’s proven expertise is in delivering operational improvement through practical and innovative solutions, conducting mining studies, technical reviews and audits, tailings engineering, specialising in design, construction, site investigations, rehabilitation and closure, tailings instrumentation and monitoring and third-party reviews. Keith has also researched the tailings design process and risk assessment, focusing on the design input parameters and minimising uncertainties in the design process.

Keith's experiences cover a broad spectrum of open-cut, underground, and tailings engineering geotechnical aspects as a rock mechanics engineer, geotechnical engineer, and tailings engineer. The transition from an early career in operational geotechnics to specialising in tailings consulting engineering has broadened mining perspectives and given him an understanding of different phases of mining and how geotechnical engineering functions across various roles. As a consulting geotechnical specialist, Keith has been an Engineer of Record (EoR) and Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE) for multiple sites and jurisdictions. His role also carries the mentoring mantle to pass on knowledge to upcoming engineers and ensure they have the foundation for geotechnical engineering success.
